Enable Dictionary Permissions

Each permission enables a specific Dictionary action.

Match permissions to features

• Accessibility: Hover Lookup, Selection Popup, and Quick Translate.
• Screen Recording for Hover Lookup: text capture under the pointer.
• Screen Recording for OCR: screenshot and screen-text capture.
• Input Monitoring: Option-key activation for Hover Lookup.

Open macOS settings

• Accessibility: x-apple.systempreferences:com.apple.preference.security?Privacy_Accessibility
• Screen Recording: x-apple.systempreferences:com.apple.preference.security?Privacy_ScreenCapture
• Input Monitoring: x-apple.systempreferences:com.apple.preference.security?Privacy_ListenEvent

Enable and verify

1. Enable Accessibility.
2. Enable Screen Recording for hover and OCR.
3. Enable Input Monitoring when you use the Option key for hover.
4. Reopen the target app and Dictionary.
5. Look up one selectable word and capture one screen word with OCR.

Refresh a permission

1. Open Dictionary Permissions and check the status beside the feature.
2. Open the matching macOS setting and enable Dictionary again.
3. Reopen Dictionary and the target app.
4. Repeat the same lookup and confirm that the result opens beside the text.
