Complete Your First Dictionary Queries
Enable the permissions used by each feature, then complete five real actions: hover lookup, selected-text translation, shortcut lookup, OCR, and history review.
1. Enable permissions by feature
- Accessibility: Hover Lookup, Selection Popup, and Quick Translate.
- Screen Recording: Hover Lookup and OCR.
- Input Monitoring: Option-key hover when that setting is enabled.
Open the target app again after changing its permissions.
2. Look up text by hover
Place the pointer over a word or phrase and open its meaning and translation beside the original text.
3. Translate selected text
Select a sentence, open the selection action, and choose Translate. Review the result with the original sentence visible.
4. Run a shortcut lookup
Select text in a Mac app and use the configured shortcut to open the result.
5. Read screen text with OCR
Draw a region around text in a screenshot, subtitle, image, video, or scanned page. Open the recognized text and translation.
6. Review the result in history
Open History, find the recent queries, and add a useful word to review.
