Getting Started
The clearest way to understand Caption is to run one small path end to end.
Recommended first-run path
- Choose one simple source combination. Start with microphone only, or microphone plus system audio.
- Start a short live session. Confirm that captions are updating and the output is readable.
- Save the result into a session you can reopen.
- Run one offline subtitle workflow on a short local file.
- Search for one known phrase later using timecode search.
If these five steps work, you have validated the basic workflow: capture, live understanding, offline finishing, and later retrieval.
Before you start
Make sure you know which input sources matter for this session:
- Microphone input
- System audio
- A specific app’s output
- Camera or screen/video recording
Do not start with every source at once unless the session actually needs it. Validate the smallest real workflow first.
What to verify on the first session
- The sources you expect are actually included.
- Live captions are readable enough to follow the conversation.
- The session is saved where you can reopen it later.
- An offline subtitle pass can complete on a short local media file.
- A known phrase can be found later with a timestamp.
